Vélib' : Welcome to Parisian Life Style

		Vélib’ is one of these most well-known new concepts in this town. (Many other town in France and in the world are starting to install this as well). Meaning: Vélib’ is the shortcut for “Vélo et liberté” (Bicycle and Freedom). The Vélib’ is a bicycle in which you can access for a small fee. With a station every 300 meters (0,186miles), and 750 stations in Paris, you can be sure to have one close to your Paris Apartment. With all those stations at your disposal you can always find one to grab a bike or to leave your bike. How Parisian and tourists use it : Of course Vélib are successful during spring, summer or fall when it's not too rainy. You'll see very often people going to work, to meetings, to shop, to hang around the banks, the parks, to sight see etc. With the more and more cycle lanes (now some 1 way streets are available for bikes in the 2 ways), pedestrian streets and days without cars events in Paris, Vélib’ is definitely more efficient than any other transports to visit Paris.

	Good to know : “Vélib’ ” closest station map is available for IPhone; download it on “App Store”. You can also have it on your smart phone with the Mobil app’ available for Android platforms. You'll always find a Velib station close to your Paris Apartment. Prices: There’re lots of choices to use vélib’: - 1 day ticket: 1,70€ - 7 day ticket: 8€ - 1 year card Vélib’ Classique: 29€ The first 30 min are free. - 1 year card Vélib’ Passion: 39€ Unlimited trips and the first 45 min are free. - Price offers (10 to 20€) for youth between 14-26 years old. How does it works ?: At each stations you book your bike and take it immedialtly. When you book, the machine will take your credit card print as a security deposit (equivalent 150€), it's not cash, but will be if the bike is not returned with 24 hours at one of the 750 stations in Paris. For long term users you have to give a 150€ deposit check to use a Vélib’ bicycle, to have your deposit check back. How can you pay for it?: Credit & Debit card ( Visa, Visa Electron, Master Card, Maestro, American Express, JBC) Warning: When you use a Vélib’ you must respect the same rules as drivers including for redlight, pedestrian priority, no ride on sidewalks, and for your safety follow the cycle lane as often as you can, children under 14 years old are not allowed to use a Vélib’.
